Rico Catering is a trusted name in Singapore’s premium Halal buffet and bento catering scene, known for curating memorable dining experiences across weddings, birthdays, festive occasions, and corporate gatherings. With a reputation built on care, hospitality, and culinary excellence, they offer a diverse menu spanning buffet catering, seminar meals, artisanal canapés, and more. Rico engaged us to design and develop an eCommerce platform that could showcase their extensive catering options while streamlining the complex ordering process. The goal was to build a digital experience as welcoming and reliable as their food—one that reflects their values of family, celebration, and inclusivity.
The catering industry brings layers of complexity that go far beyond typical eCommerce. Rico’s diverse product categories each had distinct rules: minimum pax requirements, package-specific dish selections, and mix-and-match capabilities for à la carte menus that had to validate correctly before checkout. Buffet products also required integration with live station add-ons tied to on-site chefs. On top of this, delivery operations involved multiple pricing rules, including surcharges for early morning deliveries before 8 a.m., zoned surcharges, and restricted non-service areas. The challenge was to design a seamless customer journey that could manage this complexity without overwhelming users, while still giving Rico’s team flexible backend control.
We delivered a WooCommerce-based platform tailored to the unique needs of premium catering. Custom logic was developed to enforce minimum pax rules, enable dish-by-dish mix-and-match ordering, and link buffet products with optional live station chefs. A dynamic validation system ensures customers cannot proceed without meeting required conditions, minimizing errors and enhancing trust. For delivery, a multi-tiered module handles standard zones, surcharges, non-delivery areas, and early morning surcharge requests automatically. On the backend, Rico’s staff can manage menus and packages with ease, ensuring operational efficiency. The result is a mobile-optimized, customer-friendly platform that elevates Rico’s brand online while supporting their mission to make every event unforgettable.
